Greetings From Hyperspace!

Once again, we have a jam-packed month going on with a big contest, a big convention and a much-anticipated book release. For starters, if you were at the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Festival last month and entered our raffle for free books that we had there, we've chosen the winners for that: Jonathan Kellogg won a copy of Guy Aitchison's art book Organica, Jessica Weisser won a copy of Michele Wortman's photography book Moments of Epiphany, and Michelle Perlman won a copy of Proton Press' latest release, Scratch Art, featuring the art of almost 200 tattoo artists.

The other raffle we've just concluded is for a much bigger prize: a 4-hour tattoo from Guy, valued at $1000. We had an incredible response to this contest, with over 3,500 people entering. You can see a video of the names being drawn randomly at Tattoo Television, our YouTube channel. We did our best to make the choice as random as possible... and the winners are: Third runner-up: Jaci Chambers, who wins a copy of either Organica or Moments of Epiphany (valued at $65); Second runner-up: Steven Ekanger, who wins a canvas art print of his choice, valued at $200; and the grand prize winner is Jason Ferguson, who wins the opportunity to get tattooed by Guy at the Hell City Tattoo Festival in Columbus, Ohio May 16-18. Congratulations!

The Hell City convention will be a remarkable event. Hell City has become one of the best American conventions in recent years, and features not only a world-class roster of artistic talent but a complete music, cinema and performance experience. In addition, this year Hyperspace Studios will be hosting an opening reception in the Hell City Special Events Room featuring the Scratch Art collection. This is a remarkable collection of diverse art from hundreds of tattooing's foremost talents, and is not to be missed. This exhibition marks the release of the long-awaited Scratch Art book, a gorgeous 272 page hardcover volume showcasing the collection. The opening reception will be Saturday the 17th from 6:00-10:00 P.M., but for the entire weekend, along with live painting performances and other surprises. If you're planning on being at Hell City, be sure to drop by the Special Events Room!

Meanwhile, at the other end of the country, Guy has four new paintings featured in an exciting group art show, Carnivora: The Dark Art Of Automobiles, at the L'Imagerie Gallery in Los Angeles. This exhibition showcases art from dozens of artists working in all media, and promises to be a powerhouse of dark visual material. If you are in the LA area be sure to check it out. The big opening reception is coming right up on May 3rd, and the show will be up until June 14th.

Last but not east, Guy has done a complete update to his gallery of paintings for sale. This now has a complete listing of all the oil and acrylic original paintings that he has available, including some small affordable pieces. Some of the works available are featured in Guy's book Organica... if you are a fan of his unique style, this is a rare chance to own one of these iconic original pieces to display in your home or tattoo studios.

Take care... and perhaps we'll see you at Hell City!
