Greetings From Hyperspace!
We've got a new video posted this week at our YouTube channel, Tattoo
Television. It's called Philly Painting Jam, and is a brief
documentary about the painting stage at the Philadelphia Tattoo Expo
this past April. The video features interviews with some of today's
top tattoo artists such as Cory Kruger, Nick Baxter, Jon Clue and
Nikko Hurtado, plus renowned visionary artists Alex and Allyson Grey,
who painted at a tattoo convention for their first time at this
event. Philly Painting Jam is a sequel to the video we posted
earlier this year, HyperCoSMic Painting Jam, which reported on an
event we performed at in Los Angeles this past January. Both videos
were produced by Hyperspace Studio's Guy Aitchison and Michele
Wortman, and this new one features music by Sunchannel, Michele
Wortman's electronic music project. If you are an art fan who enjoys
live creative performances, this video is worth checking out. To see
the video at high resolution, check it out on current.com.
We're also working on a third video, this one about the Scratch Art
exhibition and book release party that we held at the Hell City
convention in May; we'll let you know when it's posted. In the
meantime, we've added an expanded Scratch Art page at our website to
better accommodate this epic project. The new page features a
gallery of work from the book plus a Flickr page of new scratch art,
which any serious artist is welcome to post scratchboard work on. In
addition, the new Scratch Art page has an up-to-date list of contact
information for all participating artists, plus a forum for any
artists who want to chat with other creative people about the
scratchboard medium.
Finally, let's not forget the two big events that we have planned for
the middle of July in Los Angeles. On July 18, Guy and Michele will
be performing again with Alex and Allyson Grey at Club 740, who
hosted our last West Coast painting event. We will be joined by
several LA Area artists, including Chet Zar, who performed with us in
January, legendary graffiti master Saber, Wendy Klein, Jarrett
DeMartino and others. This event will be longer than the last one,
starting in the early evening and including a number of presentations
and panel discussions before the main live painting performance.
Also featured will be several high-powered DJ's and video projection
artists, rounding the night out into an electric sensory feast for
the eyes and ears.
The following night, July 19, will be the second and final Scratch
Art exhibition, this time at the Canvas LA Gallery. Many of the
book's participating artists will be present that night, so now is
your chance to get a collection of autographs in your copy of Scratch
Art. Canvas LA is a beautiful gallery space, and we are excited to
see how this amazing collection of art looks presented there. The
show will hang for 3 weeks, but don't miss the big opening party.
One feature of the show will be a blank scratchboard wall, which all
gallery guests are invited to make their mark on. Pieces of this
wall will then be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to Little
Kids Rock, an LA Area charity that provides music lessons and
instruments to underprivileged kids. Be there if you can!
Thanks, and we'll be keeping you posted--
Guy & Michele
