I've always encouraged tattooists to try working in other artistic mediums, particularly in oil or acrylic paint, because developing a stronger and more well-rounded set of art skills always translates to better tattooing. Painting A Rose From Reference In Oils is a beautifully produced DVD, loaded with great step-by-step tools and detailed background information. It shows the project from a variety of camera angles so you can really see it develop up close and follow the brush as paints are mixed on the palette. The project is shown over the course of close to two and a half hours, with every step described thoroughly. The DVD also includes a slideshow of Ian's work in a variety of different mediums.
